Hey,

I checked out HDR probably almost two years ago now, not long after I got my 20d. I tried a couple test shots and couldn't really find a good way to compress all the crazy range back down into a good looking file. The idea of HDR has sparked my interest again, I saw this image in the reader galleries and was particularly impressed:
http://www.popphoto.com/assets/image/2007/W49/120720071719085187.jpg
Taking a brief look around here, I see a lot of people using software other than photoshop. I see a lot of people are using the program photomatix. Is that the standard program for HDR work right now? Is there a standard program for HDR? If I'm interested in getting started into HDR, where is a good place to start? I know photographically how to take the photos, I just don't know a lot about post processing.

DPHDR, Photomatix, FDRTools, and CS3 are all linked here...and very popular.

Artizen is also popular. I haven't had time to dig into it yet, but it's also pretty popular.
