I entered a photo contest at my school on a lark, and I won. The word was impressionism, so I submitted a photo I had taken of a drummer using a long exposure. Mine won out of probably 30 submissions. Funny thing - I go to a very rich school, so people have Canon MarkIII whatevers, the nikon d200 blah blah blahs and other high end cameras. This was taken with a Canon Rebel G with the kit 35-80 mm lens. It's not the gear, but the photographer huh? Photo was on tri-x 400 pushed 1 stop, exposure of about a second in aperature priority mode. The version I had submitted didn't have the color cast to it because I madesure it was set to grayscale in PS, and the dirt marks were cloned out. This is the only version I have online.<br><br>Cheers,<br>http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/data/500/4918A_Drummers_World.jpg<br><br><div></div>

<div>Congratulations! http://www.pbase.com/peirceman/image/84302043.jpg I like this shot a lot. I think the cymbal stand being in sharp focus makes the blurred parts much more interesting. Have you thought about cropping some of the dead black space on the top and side out?</div>

Congratulations, that's a really cool photograph, I can't explain why but it's just got something.<br><br>Bwoods

Thanks! Pierceman - I tried cropping the dead space, and I think it looks better with it in. Fun trivia fact: This is handheld. I used my elbows as a tripod on the arms of the chair I was sitting in.<br><div></div>

<div> VERY,VERY GOOD. I'd say you did a great job of nailing the subject of impressionism on the head. Feels really great to have someone</div><div> pick your work over others, doesn't it? I was told once," get the image you want in your mind before you ever pick up the camera".</div><div> </div><div> CONGRAD"S</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> Don</div>

Congratulations!!! Super photo and it certainly fits the impressionism category. Great little story about your rich school and all the fancy equipment in your rear view mirror.

Congratulations! That is an excellent image to display "Impressionism." It is particularly pleasing that you once again proved it is primarily the photographers brain and eye that creates great images.
