<div>Resuce Santa from obscurity in your local thrift store.</div><div> </div><div>try to keep the price around a buck, some chips are OK, they are after all, &quot;Veteranos&quot;</div><div> </div><div>and we'll need some research on the various styles of Santa. Why does this one carry a lamp? that one a Fir Tree?</div><div> </div><div>I'm looking for Bisque(ceramic) or Resin versions:</div><div> </div><div>http://drh681.home.att.net/images/santa_0589_web.jpg</div><div> </div>

The different Santas are based on the different customs and practices of different countries around the world. The jolly, Coca-Cola style Santa is a North American invention. My dad was a woodcarver and I've got about a dozen or so different versions of Santa based on the folklore in different countries and at different times.<br><div></div>

<div></div>OK, here we go. Trying out a new toy so took a quick snap of this. These are the wooden Santas I have that my dad carved. ISO 100, 1/160, f5.6, flash -2/3 out of a Fong Lightshpere.<br><br>http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2232/2125403139_43b41c2067_o.jpg<br><br>It's a little difficult to get a sense of scale but the tallest one in the blue coat on the top row is about 9&quot; high. Can't really tell the detail in these either but it's there and it's incredible. He was known for how he did eyes.<br><div></div><br><br>Message Edited by BobF on <span class="date_text">12-20-2007</span> <span class="time_text">09:26 PM</span>

BobF, how do you like that lightsphere? I've been thinking about giving one a try the last few weeks.<br><br>I'm digging out my santas for this thread!<br><br>Bwoods

<div>very cool Bob.</div><div>What about the rest of you all?</div><div> </div><div>Can you spare a buck or two to ransom Santa from the dungeons of the Savation Army?</div><div>or Liberate him from Forced Labor in deadly mines of Good Will Industries?</div>

BW, I like the Lightsphere. I've had mine for about a year now. It does a pretty good job of enlarging and broadening the flash, reducing harsh shadows. It's not a panacea and isn't a replacement for studio lights like Fong would have you believe but it's probably the best speedlight modifier I've tried. <br><div></div>

Good, so you'd say it's worth the $39 I can get one for?<br><br>Bwoods

Well, it's all relative but yeah, I'd say it probably is. But you can't blame me if you don't like it. HA! <span></span><span>:D</span><br><div></div>

Thanks, I won't hold you responsible so don't worry. I already planned on getting one, but seeing that you are pleased with yours only helps. Happy Christmas!<br><br>Bwoods
