Hey everyone,

I just installed Adobe PS7 and there is a new cool that is called auto color. It automatically takes off color casts, which seems to be really nice so far. But I don't have any pics on my computer that have a color cast from sodium discharge lights (they always make me pull out my hair). I was wondering if someone could post up some shots that have some funky color casts on them and I will test out the performance of this new command. Thank you in advance.
Ps. I will post the adobe corrected image after I let the program do its magic.

Hi Spencer,
Haven't used the auto color either, but do like the "healing" brush /ibb/skins/default/emoticons/cool.gif

Do you know if the next version of Elements is going to have this? The full thing is a bit much for my current income ($0)... =)

I e-mailed an image to you. It is a scan from a 40+ year old Extachrome slide. It was scanned on an Epson 2450 scanner @ 2400 dpi, then resized to 640 x 480 for quicker e-mailing. The slide has a reddish cast (very red). See what you can do! Tomorrow I'll adjust it with Digital ROC and send you the file so we can make a comparison.
I read on some post that you can get any program for free. I wonder what that is about.

You can get any program for free. It has to do with free share ware programs like napster used to be, but actual programs and their serial numbers intstead of mp3's. These websites will never die, they are only becoming harder to keep and less well known. Most common of free software is: <A HREF=http://www.kazaa.com/en/kmdstart.htm" TARGET='_blank'>http://www.kazaa.com/en/kmdstart.htm
Why the He_ll would someone need to get stolen software-after all, it is stolen if you acquired it illegally/w/out paying for it? Is this the part of the grand information enlightenment? Or is it just people that don't appreciate the value of work that someone else put into a product?

As for the pics......the difference is amazing. Does anyone know when the updates to 7.0 from 6.0 that were promised by Adobe, will be going out? Not in a hurry, just wondering if there's a set time.

Thanks for trying PS7 on the picture, sure is amazing. I've been using Digital ROC to restore some of these slides - like you said, it sure makes it easy. I sent you the image corrected with ROC. Let us know what you think.
Hi,

I compared the two different pictures and it is hard to tell which one performed better. The image from PS7 was a little warmer, but maybe that is how the scene was lit thirty years ago. I would have to had been at the location to try to match what I saw with my mind, and what was captured on the emulsion.

Secondly I very much appreciate the quality or work put into such prgrams as Photoshop. But it is like the MP3 debate. And like when my dad used to copy LP's to tape to give to his girlfriend, and so he would not wearout the LP so he wouldn't have to buy one. My view on this is as follows.

If I had to buy programs such as Photoshop at retail price (i live in canada, it is about $1200 after taxes) I would not buy it. I am not using this program professionally; I am not profiting from this software. My friend has in excess of $40,000 CAN of software on his computer, including drafting, animation, video editing etc. I could pay for my university education for that much. I would not buy this product if I had to pay retail for it, therefore in essence I am not taking away from Adobe's multi-billion dollar profits.
Hopefully someone values the work you do enough to pay you.

My wife has her own business so we/she suffers the justifications of people that want something but just don't have the money at the time.

this is probably wrong for this forum.

This thread should be deleted IMO.

For those looking to purchase software and want to save some money for their camera equipment, take a look at Paint Shop Pro 7

Photoshop is a real waste for most people and Paint Shop will do everything the advanced amatuer would ever need. It also has the tool being discussed in this thread along with many other "auto fix" tools that work extremely well.
