<div>I recently had a package shipped via Fedex from Chicago. It arrived on time but you could tell the package had been dropped. THis package was heavy. The box was not only torn on a corner but it was dented in as well. The contents were broken. This package was insured. After going through the laborous claims red tape, Fedex denied the claim and said that they were not responsible. They suggested that I file a claim against the sender. That went nowhere as the sender said it left their location intact and undamaged. Fedex would not even pay the amount that I pay to insure the package. After weeks of dealing with Fedex I have gotten nowhere. I'm done with Fedex and will never use them again! Be for-warned, all those out there using Fedex!</div>

At one time, their tag line was, "Helloooo, Federal"<br><br>Now, it appears to be, "F**k off, Fedex!"<br><br>However, I don't have a much better opinion of The U.S. Postal Disservice. Instead, I always specify United Parcel (UPS).<br><div></div>

<div></div>I had a Nikon FE body damaged by UPS. I had sent it to a repair shop and after being fixed, they shipped it back to me. I phoned UPS and they said to have the repair shop file the claim. I did so and he did. There was a large dent in the top cover, took a tremendous force to create that. UPS denied the claim saying it was improperly packaged, which was not true. I had no dog in the fight as the repair shop absorbed the loss.<br><br>The repairman who I have dealt with for nearly forty years fixed it for free, replacing the cover and repairing the other damage caused by that dent.<br><br>UPS was clearly at fault and refused to honor their responsibilities. Otherwise they have been fine about delivery.<br><div></div><br><br>Message Edited by Yarddog on <span class="date_text">07-12-2007</span> <span class="time_text">09:44 PM</span>

<div>the lesson is...</div><div>pack it so it is carrier proof.</div><div> I spent a year in the Airborne Express(now DHL) trucks. Some stuff was packed well and some was not. </div><div>It all got the same handling. and when the boxes are packed into an aircargo container poorly packed stuff will get crushed.</div><div>If it is labeled fragile it might(should) get packed at the top of the container.</div><div>I am reminded of those old Samsonite commercials with the gorillas throwing the luggage around.</div><div>We were not like that. but we were working in time constraints.</div><div>Then it comes to loading the delivery truck things get interesting because you are trying to pack in reverse order of the most effcient route.</div><div> </div>

<div>I had a FedEx delivery come in this week and the package was handed to me at over 100+ degrees. The cardboard was tolerable to hold but the metal equipment inside wasn't. I almost ordered some Alaskan Colossal King crab from the Kenai Peninsula through the only shipper available in that region - FedEx. </div>

<div>perishables are usually shipped with the consideration of the weather.</div><div>i.e. thick foam coolers with dry ice.</div>

I have to say that almost every box I get is damaged.... whether it's from Fedex or UPS. The boxes usually come from B&H only because that's where I do 99 percent of my ordering. So I don't know whether it's B&H or the delivery service. It used to make me really nervous about the condition of things I bought but none of the stuff inside has ever been damaged so I guess it's OK. Even my new zillion-dollar Mac laptop box had a big dent/gash in it! I forget who deliverd it. I think Fedex. I ordered from Mac. But the computer was fine.

<div><font size="4">Steven,</font></div><div><font size="4"></font> </div><div><font size="4">I'm going to send you a private message with my company email address. I own a pack & ship company and we ship with all four carriers. Our sales volume with FedEx is such that I may be able to get you some assistance. Please keep EVERYTHING that came with your shipment, I mean ALL OF IT, box, tape, packing, wrapping, EVERYTHING. Something just doesn't sound right with this case. We make about 1 or 2 claims per month with FedEx and have never been denied, especially if you paid for extra insurance. You obviously (and for whatever reason) are not getting what you paid for. Now don't get overly excited, I said I MIGHT be able to help and I'll certainly do what I can. If possible, please email some photos of the damaged product and the damaged box.</font></div><div><font size="4"></font> </div><div><font size="4">Alan</font></div>
