I'm putting together a Strobist meet in Conway, AR on March 2, 2008 at the Faulkner County Library from 11AM-5PM if anyone is interested. Still not sure if I'm going to scout out models for it or just shoot each other. Don't have to go home after 5PM, we just can't stay at the library :D So far there are about fifteen other Arkansas photographers planning to be there. I doubt anyone here would want to make the trip, but I figured since Jack created this new section, I'd throw it out there ;)

Faulkner County Library
1900 Tyler St.
Conway, AR 72032

Message Edited by Richie on 02-10-2008 06:03 PM

It looks like we're going to get a good turnout for this. We've got 12-20 photographers and 5 models showing up.

...and we've got nice weather to boot!

No, I tried. At least he sent me a message back though. We've got a good mix of working and amateurs showing up. The plan is to split up in to groups of 3-5 depending on the final turnout and each group will be made up of a working photographer and some amateurs. There will be a list of shots to accomplish through out the day. Groups will have to work together with their models and make it happen and later we'll all bring them back in the room and put the hero shots up on the projector and critique them technically and aesthetically by the entire group. This process will be going on throughout the day in individual groups though. I'm hoping it will be an awesome hands-on learning experience for everyone. Real-time feedback and demonstration can beat a paragraph or ten of reading any day :D

Message Edited by Richie on 03-01-2008 07:14 AM

Everyone had a blast and we had some awesome weather yesterday. I didn't shoot anything really, but had a great time helping others out. Later in the afternoon, we went on location for an available light bridal shoot. Everyone else shot, but I just had an awesome time watching how everyone worked together.

...I even got to play with a 1Ds Mark III and an EF 85mm f/1.2L USM II :D

Keep an eye on these photographers over at Flickr to see some of the work they cranked out yesterday.

ML Baxley
Alton Roberts
Jamie Fender
Mikekemp.F5
Jim Reasoner
Max Slaughter
Burnsphoto
Richie Ryerson
Tamillia
