He looks sad....but we don't know. He could be blissful. Sittin' on his blankie! Nice capture although it looks a bit washed out...perhaps some more contrast and/or a levels adjustment. I'd also clone out the remnants of the front wall in the lower right corner.

I agree with Russ that this shot is a bit washed out. I don't know if you were going for High Key, but I don't think this shot warrants it. Besides that though, I think this is a great shot with lots of potential!

Good portrait of Winston. I think the over exposed look has to do with the monitor ck is working on.

Russ Arrrg!!! thought I had cropped out all the front wall, thanks for seeing it so I can get rid of it.

I think the overexposed/washed out look may be something with my monitor as I am not seeing that as I look at it..though I was looking to washout the background a bit to highlight the texture of Winston's fur.

On my monitor, ckranz, it looks washed out, too. Not quite high key, but certainly bright and lacking contrast.

I love the story you captured, and I think b&w is a good choice. Perhaps increase contrast some, or really go for it with the high key.

Definitely bring your monitor's brightness up a few degrees. His leg is almost devoid of any texture. Proper contrast would really bring out the differences in textures from wall to fur and give it a "story".
I took the liberty of treating Winston as a traditional portrait-burning edges and leaving a light "halo" around him. I also burned in his leg to enhance the fur.

Monitor brightness is a max. I may have to play with the of the other card settings...or better yet get a new monitor. (in the works as of now I am limited to a laptop for all photowork.
