I'm having an issue with this lens connecting to both my D300 & D700. The mount from the lens give me a slightly loose fit after having it only 6 months. Thinking of sending it in ,but if anyones got any suggestions before I do that please let me know. I'd hate to be without it. Not sure how Nikon repair in El Segundo will have it for.
One thing you may want to try is tightening those little phillips head screws that hold the mount onto the lens barrel. They're pretty small, so you'll need a jeweler's size screw driver. Be very careful; don't let the screw driver slip and damage the lens' rear element. If that doesn't work, contact Nikon about a repair.
I agree with Wron; if the lens fit well before, it should fit well now. Both the camera and the lens' mounts are stainless steel. Not likely or even possible that either one would be worn out. The tiny screws fastening the mount to the lens, could become loose. That is not very likely either, but it's possible.
