No I am not re introducing myself... I dont have alzheimers where one makes new friends every day.
Yes I am an addict.... to my camera... to creating art.
I am mostly a street photographer... I am a self appointed critic. of my own work in the worst possible way... but I cant walk away from it.
I have my moods... I have my confusion, disappointment... but the only feeling that eclipses all of that is when I am on the street.
It is like going to a play for the first time... and you have NO idea what the script is... and yet you are compelled... fascinated... intensly curious.
Thankfully there are forums like this one.... where I can announce my addiction... and share it.

These were taken on that hike I went on a couple weeks ago.It was so hard just to get down to it and had to use ropes to get down this ledge.Once down there,we had to stand on this rock with limited space,so the angle wasn't the best.We only stayed a few minutes because we needed to be back at camp before dark. The climb was the hardest thing I done on the trip,it nearly killed me.It was 6 miles round trip.

I shot these @ 1/20 second,no tripod,just twisted my body.

From one of you software mavens. I'm thinking of getting NX2 for my D300, and have been wondering what other software I might consider given that Nikon hasn't seen fit to have anything ready to go for Windows 7. First it must be able to convert raw images because thats all I shoot, and it must have all the basic tools, plus the ability to straighten leaning buildings, clone, combine exposures, or in some way extend dynamic range. In short it must be easy enough for a simpleton to use but result in excellent image quality. So far the only softwares I'm familiar with are the free ones that come with cameras, so my knowledge of what's in say a photoshop, adobe, lightroom, etc is nil, and I'll need explained. Thank's ;)pith

Is my immediate reaction to discovering that "sexy12angel/75" is not only not a woman, but apparently none to bright either given that he's spamming us in a language only Alex could decipher. Oh well, if we have to be spammed at least being the recipients of Russian spam lends an air of mystery to what would otherwise be a completely uninteresting turn of events. There's something a little illicit looking about this particular spam though, as if it might be phone sex numbers, or maybe even an escort service. Note to sexy, consider getting one of your beautiful angels to spam us, and induce us in English, whereby at least we can enjoy the fantasy, if not the reality of an Aeroflot journey to the Motherland.:D;)pith

A couple of weeks ago, I took a bunch of shots of my hometown with several digital cameras as well as one film body. I posted some of the digital ones which turned out OK.

Today I got the film back and scanned the negatives on my scanner which has always done a fine job.

Well the pics are fine except there is a lot of grain especially in blue skies.

Now some would suggest that 800 ISO film is supposed to have a lot of grain but in the past I have been amazed at how little grain Max 800 has.

Does the fact that the film is several years out of date make a difference? Despite the age, I did not notice any yellow cast except maybe in one neg. It may have been in my camera for six or seven years.

I did not even notice it at the time but I also had a 1.7X teleconverter on the 28-85mm Nikkor. I probably had it on the camera as much as a place to store it as anything else. Whatever the sharpness of the pics is first class so the converter did not do much harm.

Hard to believe but I didn't even notice the converter was on the camera until I loaded another roll of film in it.

I really am disappointed at the grain.

Could it have been the development?
