pw - I like this shot and the different layers you have included in it. I would like to see it a little larger.
I'd like to see it a bit larger, too. What time of day was this? Doesn't look like there's much snow on the mountains and I know in a few weeks the tops will be covered. Did you see any dall sheep?
Turnagain Arm is just magnificent and one of my favorite places on earth. Every October I get to make the drive from Anchorage Airport to Girdwood to attend a board meeting and I have to factor in an extra hour or so for the drive so I can stop along the way to photograph. Between the scenery and looking for dall sheep, eagles and belugas I completely lose track of time. Then I have sneak out before dinner to try for a few more photos! Exposure is tricky with the snow and the cloud cover, especially since the weather is so unpredictable in October, and I've learned that a grad ND filter is a must, but I have yet to take a photo that I think truly shows the magnificence of this area (although I'm getting closer every time!).
I agree that it needs to be larger but its a nice photo
I agree! That area is awesome in the true sense of the word. We saw about 60 Dall sheep and a whole pod of belugas that day. I photo was taken in late afternoon about 5:00 I think. We were dring down toward Ninnilchick to fly fish teh silver salmon run. I'll try and post a larger version later today
