Initially I found with this particular sprite, the white seemed more complimentary. But I really wanted to try and find a colored background that worked with it. I finally came up with the one you see in the post below. Which do you like better?
I vote color. The color version is very nice. Are these digital backdrops and props?
Thank you. I am creating each of these digital backdrops from scratch for each individual image (see my other Flower Sprites thread for other images). Everything else in the photo is real. The image is a composite of three images; the child, the flower and the butterfly wings.
The colored complements very well the flower.
The white one is nice too, but the little something is missing.
Ooooohhh....pastels and a gradient!
Now you're cookin', Cassandra!!
Not entirely fond of the haloing, though.
Thanks, to the both of you.
John, the haloing was needed to make the flower and sprite stand out. There wasn't enough of a contrast without it. I tried that first.
My vote goes to the color background. It just adds to the overall efect. Very nice series.
I vote color too, but I don't haloing kind of bothers me. Would you need to do that if you the blue wasn't quite so dark?
Thank you both.
And there-in lies the problem, kmuse. If I lighten the blue, the glitter doesn't show up that well. But what I did do was tone down the haloing... so hopefully you guys can see a difference in the refreshed version. I won't get rid of it all together, it really does need to be there (from my perspective). I considered it just the glow of the Sprite carrying on over to it's resting spot.
