I'm trying to upload a decent size .jpg to photo bucket so I can post to the gallery, but every time I upload, Photobucket resizes it to roughly half the original size. The orignal image is about 770 pixels wide, and 312kb. Photobucket says on their upload page that images larger than 512kb will be automatically resized, but since this is smaller I'm not sure why it's doing it.
Nevermind, I found the answer on Photobucket's forums. (Didn't realize they had forums before!)
Since I can't delete the thread, I'll post the answer. One of your account options is the max file size, and the default value is 256kb. You have to know to go change that to 512kb to get what they promise you with a free account. Sneaky sneaky.
Well, I wanted to post to the reader gallery, and didn't think that the 300 pixel image was big enough to show enough detail. And in any case, it wasn't the file size that bothered me, it was the image size.
