    Travelling with digital camera

I will be going to Italy in a few weeks for 8 days. I have a Canon Powershot S50 and a Nikon N80 (film). I am thinking of bringing both cameras with me, do you think it is necessary?

The second question I have is that I have two cards for my digital one is 256mb, and the other 512mb. I am wondering if I run out of card space are there internet cafes where i can upload my photos to dotphoto.com or a similar site? What do I need to bring with me in order to do that?

All your input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

    Alex

If this is a once in a lifetime trip, I would bring both.

The N80 gives you a lot more flexibility and, depending on your lens selection, wide angle capability.

See my post in the 'China' thread in the 'Travel Photography' forum here for more info. regarding your second question.

Yep, take both. Spend another few bucks for a 256 or 512 (they are down in price - and you are spending quite a bit to get to Italy, so what is another few bucks) and not to worry about downloading (Format the cards using your camera). Take that time you would spend looking for some venue to download, without guarantee of losing shots, for taking photos. You can always edit, although looking at small pictures can be deceiving unless very bad, at some free time. Do not forget many batteries for the digital and the film and flash. For the digital make sure that the batteries you take have been recycled at lest four or five times so that you can get the maximum time (instead of 1/2 hour or less) out of them.

And, don't forget some high speed film such as 400 and 800, that you will surely put in your carry on luggage. Take a Polarizer for the shots around water which there is plent of wherever you go along the coast ands even the lakes or rivers.

There is much more that I can add, but I don't know where you are going and how you like to shoot. But, basically what has been said so far should help you. Have fun.
