My daughter plays on a softball team called the Heartbreakers, and they have asked me to take headshots of the girls for their website.I'm interested in finding a cropping tool or frame that will allow me to crop the images with a heart shaped outline. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
What post-processing tools are you using??
I use Picasa for batch processing, but I also have PS version 7.
I only have PSE here at work...but there is a Cookie-Cutter tool in PSE and one of the shapes available is a heart. I would think PS7 probably has the same.
I found a heart shape in the custom shapes tool. It's been a while since I've had to create anything in PS7.How do I go about making a layer with the heart and using it to crop a photo?
First, make sure your Layers palette is open.
Open the image you want to work with.
You already found this, but I'll leave it in case someone else wants to know how to get that Shape.
Right click on the tool just below the Type tool in your toolbar.
Select 'Custom Shape Tool' from the flyout menu.
Now click on the downward pointing arrow at the Shapes icon up in the Options bar and choose the heart.
Click on the top left side of the image and drag the heart shape out to your liking.
I'm going to link you to this tutorial because it shows you some cool effects that will impress your daughter and her teammates.
Don't forget that you can feather the heart shaped selection if you don't want a hard edge.

I knew you'd pop in here sooner or later with a link. That's exactly what I was looking for. It's been way too long since my PS class and I've forgotten everything they taught about how to use this stuff. Thanks John.
