I live at the Jersey Shore and I have a week of in December. I wanted to take an overnight trip to try and shoot some snow on trees/mountain pics. Anybody have any ideas about where I might go? I was thinking the Poconos, or Catskills maybe? Thanks
Colorado? It don't git much better'n that.
Seriously, most of the nation's plus 14,000 foot peaks are in Colorado. I don't know what the weather conditions are in the state right now, but you can find that out easily enough.
LS he said he has a week off but only wants to spend an overnight. If it was for the entire week I would agree with you.Closer to your home for real mountains and not foothills: The Adorondack Mountains in NYThe White Mountains in NHThis may be a little late in the year for either in which case the Catsklills are your best bet.Good Luck and post some.Lynn
I used to live at the Jersey shore myself, before moving to Colorado. While I agree that this is the place for mountain photography, it doesn't fit your time schedule. With that in mind, I have to completely agree with the previous suggestion of the Adirondacks or the White Mountains. I also loved the Lake Placid and Finger Lakes regions, and the Bennington, Vermont area is quite nice, too.
I second vermont. Killington, Warren, and Stowe are the towns with the big ski resorts. Camels Hump is also a good one to get pictures of.
( I grew up there, so if you have any questions let me know)
You grew up on a camel's hump?? Kind of gives new meaning to a "bumpy childhood" doesn't it?
