Though I knew MR. Keppler was up in years, I was none the less shocked to hear of his passing.
Back in the mid 1990s, he and I exchanged few snail mail letters concerning a couple of letters I wrote to Pop Photo's letter column. In one of my letters I asked him if he could send me a photo of himself. He sent me a great 5X7 glossy. Though the photo was black and white, he signed it with his signature green ink! The picture still hangs on my wall and is highly cherished. His down to earth, down right folksy way of writing is unmatched in this world of way too many photoggraphy snobs! There will never be another Herbert Keppler, and make no mistake about it, he can never be replaced. RIP, Herbert.....
