NW Georgia Balloon Festival

It's time for the third annual NW Georgia Balloon Festival! This event has hot air balloons, carnival and balloon rides in a small town setting. It will be held May 14, 15, 16 (Fri - Sun) at Tillotson field near Menlo (same location as the previous two years).

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Forum member Fujicaman and I were at the balloon festival Saturday afternoon. It was hot, muggy and the balloons launched about an hour behind schedule. Those were the only negatives. Everything else went pretty well. It was nice to meet another longtime forum member and we had fun talking gear, weddings, etc.

I'll try to post some of my pictures in the Reader's Forum soon and hope Fujicaman will do the same. Maybe next year we can get even more forum member's to come, meet, and shoot some colorful balloons!

I told you last year that I wanted to come, but I got asked last minute to fill in for an ailing photographer and I got to shoot the Charlotte, NC Ultra Swim competition. I REALLY enjoyed that oipportunity!! Mark me down for the 2011 Balloon Festival though!

CLMonk, I'll be glad to put you down on next year's list. This year's goal was 20,000 attendees and I think they came close to that (total for whole weekend). It's a big boom for a small town and helps out the local fire departments, etc. Not too many other places locally to see hot air balloons and even ride in a tethered one. There were a lot more DSLR's this year so hopefully it will gain exposure (pun intended) as photographers show off their work.
