Who is logged in and who isn't

Went to one of my posts and I noticed the dot next to my screen name was green even though I wasn't logged in. I've noticed that once before.

Not to worry, Jerry. It was me. I like to log in as other people and send Pith weird e-mails just to confuse him. (NOT REALLY...JUST KIDDING!) but really unless you specifically click the LogOut button (top right) I do not think the system logs you out at all. You just go dormant and if you log back on within x number of hours, the system does not know that you have been gone. That's why if you look at the bottom of the home page on the forum it shows sometimes hundreds of people are logged on, when in reality, they are not.

It's the time-out settings. Remember when everyone was being logged out due to inactivity, Stan tweaked the settings to keep everyone logged in for 9999999 minutes or some other insane amount of time.

The benefit is that we aren't logged out in the middle of creating a post, the downside is that even though you've walked away from the forums, you're still logged in forever.

It's one of those software mysteries that Bonnier's crack IT Staff have yet to figure out. It ranks up there with trying to adjust the color scheme.

    Hey Monk,

Now I finally know why I keep getting nasty pm's from Pith. That was driving me crazy. Maybe I shouldn't be using the initials pms.

ROFL Jerry! Maybe Pith is having issues with pms.

I was thinking the same thing Sharna but I'm glad you said it first.
