This Thursday, I'm heading down to Penn's Landing to shoot the Olympia before she's scuttled. The last day for entry onto the ship is the 22nd. If anyone wants to meet up let me know. To find out about the Olympia and her current plight check here.

that looks like a really cool old ship there John !! I bet you'll have fun photographing her !! are you going onboard ? When you say "scuttled" they do have intentions of Dry Docking her and repairing her right ? I read a portion of the link and looks like funding has been an issue, I'd hate to see them destroy an old piece of history like that,, have a great time and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with there !!

I believe scuttling is Navy speak for taking her out in the ocean and sinking her. I've heard rumors that that's what could be her final destination.
It would be a shame to lose a piece of history. She's the oldest intact metal warship in the world.
Tours will end the 22'nd, hence my haste to get down there to get some images. I've been on her before, just never had my camera with me.
