Chuck, that is very interesting. In some ways our stories are very similar. I wish I was into photography growing up in Budapest, but I have nothing but a few postage stamp size pictures, taken with a cheap Bakelite camera too. Tremendous picture opportunities were available in 1956, but as a 15 year old I never thought of that.
After I came to the US, married and returned to Europe with the US Army I did get a very old clunky rangefinder, that produced some nice pictures that I still have. But I really didn't know what I was doing.I got interested in Photography when our last child was born in 78 and I realized that there would be nothing as a keepsake from the years of their growing up. And I went hog wild. Got an SLR went into darkroom work shot slides and read everything I could find on Photography.
Funny that you mentioned the Zenith. In 1993 I went to see my family in Hungary and one of my nephews had an old Zenith. I already decided to give him my Canon EOS 650, but I said I want the Zenith in trade. In the end I didn't take it after all. I wish now that I did. But then I have dozens of old cameras in the closet.![]()

My apologies to Dave, for veering off course with this thread, quite neglecting to bash and berate his photos, but I think you are interested and motivated. You'll do fine. Show us some more.
