Thoughts?
thanks for looking
Mike
I think that the biggest problem it that they are too dark. Lighten them up and they will be a lot better. Esp. the first one, otherwise it is nice.
On the second one, the tree leading into the picture is too dark to draw you into the picture, and there is no pattern to the leaves, so I get lost there.
The question is not what you look at, but what you see.

Dark, dull and OOF. What are you metering on? You need to do a levels adjustment in PS. I really like the leading line of the river in #1 but the image needs some "pop"!
I will try to lighten it up. Really appreciate the comments. Thanks

It's not just lightening them up - some of the highlight areas are burned out, so lightening them would only make it drab on the light side. I'm hoping you have a raw file of both - you need to #1) make a jpeg that has highlight detail #2) then do a curves adjustment to the darker areas to bring them out.

Yes, too dark and drab. You may not have shot at best time of day. I love when sun filters through fall leaves, it can produce awesome backlighting. Get some sun in these.
P. S. There is no apostrophe in plural non-possessive words.
