Great set, #2 is stunning. Are you using a 300mm prime?

    Very nice work.

    Thanks for the kind words!
The only one taken with the 300 f2.8 IS II is the Pitts Monster. The other in-flight pics are 500 f4 IS II some with the 1.4 ext III.
    Canon 1Dx was the body for most. The C-130 was a 5D mk3 with 70-200 f2.8L II.
Lots more in the library so stay tuned!

    Is the second a composite?

Nope! Just got lucky. I have a Southwest going through the moon as well. That was with the 500mm plus 1.4 TC handheld. There was a second photog there using a bit longer lens on a tripod and his pics are not cropped quite as much as mine.
We both have been trying to get that shot for quite some time and everything lined up!

To watch us must have been funny...much like playing billiards using body english...we were yelling "No! go left...up, up, UP....Noooooooo! Dammit!"

    Here's a couple of "misses"

Rob, I think you've got aviation shooting down! Love the two Stearmans. I can nitpick the shot of the F-16 with afterburner on and say that I wish the background was a little more out of focus, but, as I say, that's a real nitpick. Love the FedEx DC-10 smoking the tires as it touches down. I can almost hear the tires squawking.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback! The F-16 shot was 1/500 at f6.3 ISO100 with the 500mm and 1.4TC. It should have had a bit more blur but weird things happened that day as the light was bad.
    Here's a couple more...

Nice. Like the burner pulses as the F16 driver pours on the coal. Interesting shot, too, of the two seater F16. Wonder if the GIB (guy in back) just along for the ride or if he's a weapons officer of some sort. Anyway, good work. Thanks for sharing.
