Ok, so I had some fun today and took some time to work on this challenge. Here's what I came up with.

Westward Ho Hotel built in 1928, featured in the films Psycho and Pocket Money. It was the tallest building in Phoenix until 1960.

I went to a few old cemeteries for the Feast of All Saints. The families of those buried there had cleaned up the graves with sand, white wash and fresh flowers then lit candles at sunset while waiting for the priest to come and bless the graves.

The first cemetery has no public access and is right on the bayou. I suspect over the years graves have been lost to the water. I had been out here a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find this cemetery. On Sunday I saw a bunch of cars parked and noticed an open gate that I hadn't seen before.

The second cemetery was one that I shot the previous black and white and it was amazing how much work had been done in preparation of the holiday. I stayed here until after sundown and waiting for the priest to bless the graves.

Ok this isn't the prettiest house, but it is the oldest so far. The left side of the house is a Saltbox built in 1660, and the right was added in 1750. Its on the national register of historic places, and the gentleman in the shot lives there, and was quite helpful in describing the " Hawkins Homesteads" long history.pith

This is President Grant's house in St Louis at Grant's Farm. There did not seem to be a way to get a photo without a big tree in the way...

Only a couple of days left until the deadline midnight november 9th. We'll vote for our favorite historic photo all day november tenth until midnight. Remember, you have to have submitted a shot to vote, and you can't vote for yourself for obvious reasons. Simply pick the photo you think should win which is both historic, and attractive, and that's it. Good Luck fellow history buffs/ photographers. The prize such as it is, is that you will be revered as an historical icon around the forums by those in the know, and an official member in good standing of the Lopithecus family. What more could anyone want?pith

The county I live in was the start of the Dakota Sioux uprising in 1862.

This is the monument in front of the rebuilt stockade and some of the local buildings that have been moved onto the site for preservation.

the blacksmith shop

And my "version"

some old farm equipment at the site.

And out at my parent place, mom likes old stuff too.

Umm... I'm interested, and have a place in mind, but I'm assuming the deadline is a typo? I believe you posted this on 10/05/09, which doesn't give me much time if it ended almost a month ago.

I think you misread it chuck. It almost looks like 9/09 but it's not.

You have a day and 3/4
