For my tastes, and a lot of people out there don't agree with them, these shots are too obviously HDR - that is, the strange colors, the halo effects, and the overdone edge effects don't appeal to me. On the other hand, if you were trying for an effect that HDR apps make possible, then you succeeded. Perhaps other forum members will chime in with their opinions. Be that as it may, I'm glad you posted the images and I hope you take my critique in the spirit in which it was meant - that is, it's just my opinion and you have every right to disagree with it.

I somewhat agree, but when it comes to HDR, each person's objective will vary. Where were these taken?
Personally, I'd cut back on the intensity to remove the halo. Post HDR, do some minor color balance adjustments in PS and they would look totally different. It might be an interesting experiment to choose one photo and make the individual bracketed shots available to anyone. Each person can process the same photos and see how each person's style varies.

Well, you are dealing with a lot of issues here.Grain for one. Loss of blacks for another.
Did you use Photomatix? It tends to boost blues and that is what I'm seeing here. I'd like to see the original photos. 1 & 4 look like they could be really good shots. No offense, but the HDR here just does not look good. Did you do any adjusting or just use the results the prog gave you. Any PP? I don't want to sound negative,it's nice to see some new shots her in the old graveyard. Keep posting. Cheers,Geoff. |

Most likely they were taken here:
http://www.athm.org/ Textiles is almost completely gone from the American scene. In the south we have lots of huge, empty buildings that used to be productive textile businesses. Best, AndyK www.kellettphoto.com |
