I think Bob was saying that if you only want to use iPhoto or Aperture, you really need to have a Mac.

It is a complete sentence, Neil. It relates directly to the sentence immediately preceding it. It's fine.

That is true, but they also have a Studio XPS 13 for $1099 (oddly the price went up $100 since a few days ago!). Ah dunno, the whole point my comparison was 13" notebooks, a size I'd actually carry. I had a 15" and it sucked humpin' it across hill and dale.

It's actually a good deal but too difficult to get the Mac OS to run on it. On the other hand, it's a snap to get the Mac OS and Windows to run simultaneously on a Mac. It all a moot point for me as I've used Macs since 1984 and see no reason to run Windows.

This argument is not valid for many of us who have already invested in application software.

I have a big bundle of legacy software on PCs, mostly graphics, web design, and publications software that would blow my budget to pieces if I swapped to Mac, or Linux, or anything else.

I also still run a 13-year-old car, use a 35-year-old camera, my original Led Zeppelin albums still play, my VHS version of "Stargate" runs fine, and I still have the two false teeth my dentist fitted back in '72 and can chew beef just like they used to! Why get new kit unless there is an overriding justification?
