Default Lightroom 3 Beta - Free Download

Adobe now has the beta release of Lightroom 3 available. You do not have to be a registered owner of Lightroom 1.x or 2.x to download and try this out!

P.S. It will be active through April 2010. The download file is 120Mb for PC, 68Mb for Mac.

For anyone thing about downloading this beta, stay far, far away from it! I had never used LR before, then made the mistake of trying the LR3 beta. Boy, am I hooked. Now where is that cookie jar so I can save up for the real version?

I tried, didn't really know how to use it. When I started it, it started to spend time collecting all the images on my hard drive. I don't feel good about it.

Would someone please explain to me what a "Beta" version is. I thought that Sony's Beta disappeared forty years ago when VHS won out. It just shows to go ya what I don't know.

may I quote wikipedia?
"Alpha testing
Alpha testing is simulated or actual operational testing by potential users/customers or an independent test team at the developers' site. Alpha testing is often employed for off-the-shelf software as a form of internal acceptance testing, before the software goes to beta testing.[citation needed]

Beta testing
Beta testing comes after alpha testing. Versions of the software, known as beta versions, are released to a limited audience outside of the programming team. The software is released to groups of people so that further testing can ensure the product has few faults or bugs. Sometimes, beta versions are made available to the open public to increase the feedback field to a maximal number of future users.
"

And Lynn, as for the Sony Beta I guess Sony likes to do it backward. After the Beta died they introduced their Alpha D-SLR's.

Thanks Chan, you put it in language that even I can understand.
I think you are correct about Sony.

Lynn, there was a show on the History Channel called "70's Tech" it included info on the Sony Beta Sysytem. They repeat it every so often, but the gist of the Sony Beta Max was that the tapes would only record for an hour, making it impossible to tape a movie or other program of longer than 1 hour duration.
