Default Texas Wild Flowers

It's almost spring and Southwest Texas is suppose to have spectacular wild flowers...if I can find a location. I am in San Antonio and would like to find a place with abundant blue bonnets. I hear Fredricksburg area is nice. Anyone have a spot off I-10 somewhere?

One of the best places for shooting in Texas is Granbury, about 4 hours north from you.

I got this Photograph America newsletter when I went last year to visit friends/relatives and take pictures. It was very helpful in finding locations, though apparently last year was a bad year bloom-wise.

The area around Fredricksburg is a pretty good one. Near there is Inks Lake State Park and Enchanted Rock State Park. Enchanted Rock may not have many wildflowers, but it's cool anyway.

Watch out for cows on the roads.

The bluebonnets are pretty much everywhere in Central Texas right now. Grab photos before the grass gets too deep!

Shoshana beat me to the punch. Lady Bird Johnson is the primo spot. You can also tour LBJ's ranch at the off-peak photo hours, as they are right next to one another. Enchanted Rock isn't too far away from you and is nice, too.
